Stuck inside? Need a break and a bit of nostalgia? Book The ChillMobile, a vintage 1979 Good Humor ice cream truck.

Tammy Hauser bought the ice cream truck (formerly known as B’s Cool Treats) in December from retiring owner Brenda Zook and renamed it The ChillMobile for her Discover Sarasota Tours trolley guests.

She intended to open this summer, but with the spread of the coronavirus, the demand from homebound kids and frazzled moms convinced Hauser to start promoting mobile ice cream sales sooner than planned.

“This was one thing I could do to bring some fun and entertainment to our Sarasota community while we wait to reopen our tour company.”

The ChillMobile is perfect for small groups who want to stay safe, yet pine for the nostalgia of childhood. It plays 1970s ice cream truck music, while selling locally produced Good Humor novelty pops like Strawberry Shortcake, Orange Push Pops, Fudge Bars, Batman, Hello Kitty, Reese’s Dessert Cups and Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Sandwiches, as well as gourmet ice cream cups from Lickity Splits, in Lakewood Ranch.

All event fees are waived during the pandemic.
