Tammy Hauser bought the vintage 1979 Good Humor Ice Cream Truck ice cream truck in December 2019 and renamed it The ChillMobile for her Discover Sarasota Tours Trolley Cottage guests.

While she intended to open The ChillMobile this summer, the demand from homebound families during the virus situation convinced her to build a website and start promoting mobile ice cream sales sooner than planned. According to Hauser, ice cream sales around the country are skyrocketing, perhaps due to people staying home during the pandemic. “There seems to be a resurgence of nostalgic ice cream trucks, and what beats the ease of having cool treats delivered to you in your driveway? The business has been expanding to meet growing demand, and that’s why we’ve added the new Sunset Chill options.”

Along with new Sunset Chill Boozy Pops and its regular menu of delicious ice cream novelties, The ChillMobile is now offering DIY Sundae Kits for the whole family, including four pints of Lickity Splits ice cream plus toppings. Ice cream flavors include Mint Chip, Salted Caramel Truffle, Strawberry Swirl, Double Chocolate Brownie and French Vanilla; toppings include rainbow sprinkles, chocolate sprinkles, crushed M&M’s, cherries, fudge sauce, and butterscotch sauce—all for $24.99.

The ChillMobile brings groovy smiles to faces young and old, and helps us all remember why community is so important, especially now.

The ChillMobile plays original 1970s ice cream truck music and sells locally-produced Good Humor novelty pops like Strawberry Shortcake, Orange Push Pops, Fudge Bars, Batman, Hello Kitty, Birthday Cake bars, Magnum Almond Bars, and Oreo Bars, Bomb Pops, Reese’s Dessert Cups and Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Sandwiches—all for $3 each. The ChillMobile also serves gourmet ice cream cups from Lickity Splits in Lakewood Ranch; flavors include Mint Chip, Salted Caramel Truffle, Strawberry Swirl, Double Chocolate Brownie, and Cookies & Crème, which sell for $5.
